Weigh In

Yes, today is weigh in, but not until afternoon...

Breakfast: Yogurt with a sprinkle of walnuts - yum

Snack: carrots, cucumber, and a handful of walnuts

Lunch: turkey and swiss on wheat bread with light miracle whip & a handful of baby carrots

Exercise: Nothing out of the ordinary. Walking back and forth across campus and up and down stairs.

Dinner: Small serving of roast beef, one small spoonful of gravy, and some sweet potatoes

Check-up: Ok, so it wasn't as dramatic as I had hoped for. The good news is that I did NOT gain any. The disappointing news is that I only lost 1 pound. Last weekend was almost entirely sedimentary. I sat in the car driving for 3 days. We had buffet on our trip, which offers no sense of control even though I tried pretty hard not to blow it. So... a little disappointed, but Doc tells me that fluctuation is inevitable. She says to pay more attention to how my clothes fit. I did lose a whole inch around my waist!!!! And how I feel, which has been pretty good. My blood pressure is way down, which attests to my progress probably more than anything.

Manic Monday!

I'm off work today. Should I say that louder? I'M OFF WORK TODAY!!!!!

Breakfast: Banana nut muffin, slice of apple cinnamon bread, coffee with no-fat cream.

Snack: n/a

Lunch: cabbage & sausage

Exercise: Planning to go horseback riding today. Had a great time.

Dinner: more cabbage & sausage

Water: 2 bottles - not so good.

Pig Kickin Anniversary

Today has been ONE whole month since I started kickin the pig. Wow! I can't believe it. I am getting weighed tomorrow, so we'll see how well I have progressed. Actually, I was away this past weekend and was NOT very good. I TRIED to be good, but we had buffet for breakfast and dinner almost every day. I tried to make good choices and not over do it, but buffet's are REALLY hard to do that. Especially when the fancy shmancy dessert table has PECAN PIE and an assortment of other yummy favorites decorated with edible orchads. Oh wow!!! That's all I could say.

Over The Hump Day

My mornings always begin SO much better than the rest of my day.

Breakfast: 1/2 cup of Old Fashioned oatmeal with a sprinkle of sugar and a splash of 1% milk. 1/3 cup of homemade applesauce. *Thanks Rene'e YUMMY!

Coffee: 1 1/2 cups with half & half

Snack: I'm packing a baggie with a handful of mini carrots and some cucumber. I did have this was just about 1 1/2 Tbsp of Caesar dressing to dip them in.

Lunch: Chicken Salad sandwich with a side of chips and a pickle. Yep, should have passed on the chips.

Exercise: Not anticipating much on this front. While I'd love to play tennis again, Keith won't be home until after dark. Also, I have some other committment for tonight, so I'm thinking that I will not be gainfully exercising today. However, now that I have brought this fact to light, I shall endeavor to be a little more active in my work place. Like maybe I'll take the stairs instead of the elevator. I usually do take the stairs most of the day, but sometimes I take the elevator after lunch. Maybe I'll park further from the entrance today to get a few extra steps in my day.

Dinner: bowl of chili and 2 pieces of corn bread. YUM.

Temptations Blasted: Hmmm... there was the chips, but then I gave in. Shame on me!

Temptation Tuesday

Well, the week is already well on its way. Temptations are constantly butting into my routine and today I hope to tackle a few. We'll see as the day goes by...

Breakfast: 1/2 cup Old fashioned oatmeal with a sprinkle of sugar, sliced almonds and a splash of milk.

Coffee: 1 cup with half & half (I prefer no or low fat cream, but it wasn't my turn to buy it for work so I just go with whatever we have)

Snack: Raisin Bran - dry/no milk

Water: 10 oz Dasani, 20 oz Dasani (Man - I need to consume more water!)

Lunch: Took boss to Ray Azteca. 1 beef taco 1 chicken quesadilla, some refried beans, and a tall iced tea with lemon. Not the greatest lunch, but not gonna kill me. It was yummy!!!!

Exercise: Riding tonight? Maybe? Or walking... gotta do something! Can't wait for Keith to be off another evening so we can play tennis (weather permitting) I told myself that I could either walk alone at the park or go to the barn and ride. I chose the latter. I did a few stalls, which is not a lot, but a little bit of exercise. I think it counts because it's not sitting still. Then I rode Blaze in the ring.

Dinner: Slim Fast shake before leaving work at 5pm. It's after 8 now and I'm having a handful of carrots, some cucumber, and a sprinkle of garbanzo beans. YUM.

Temptations Blasted: 8am - candy jar on co-worker's desk is full. Tempted to take a packet of M&Ms, but successfully resisted. 12pm - candy jar is still rather full. Tempted to snag a Almond Joy but successfully resisted. I was tempted to skip riding tonight but successfully resisted! YIPPIE!!!

One More Week

One more week (tomorrow) until weigh-in at the doctor's office. It's like taking the pig to slaughter. Not actually, I'm hoping that I will have lost a few pounds this time around.

Breakfast - Back on oatmeal. 1/2 cup with a splash of 1% milk and a sprinkle of sugar.

Coffee - 1 1/2 cups so far with cream.

Snack - thinking about it. It was a cheese stick and some dry cherrios.

Lunch - turkey & swiss on whole wheat with light miracle whip and a handful of carrots.

Water - 10 oz Dasani + 16 oz with lunch + 20 oz before coffee this morning. Why is it so much easier to drink water at work? Another 10 oz. Dasani and a cup of herbal tea before bed

Dinner - Left over night. I had some left over mac n' cheese and some left over flank steak. YUM. I thought about making a vegetable to go with, but this was enough. Not the greatest dinner, but not all so bad.

Exercise - Anybody want to walk with me tonight? Snowing outside and dark by the time I got home. I opted to stay in and be lazy.

Being Good

This morning I made Keith a nice big breakfast- eggs, toast, bacon, and potatoes. Not for me though. I'm being good.

Breakfast: 1 cup of oatmeal with 1/3 cup of 1% milk and a sprinkle of sugar.

Coffee: 1 cup of Starbucks Serena with no fat cream.

Snack: banana - yuk

Water: 5 oz. water w/ 5 oz. cranberry juice, another 16 oz. glass of wild sweet orange tea w/ no sweetner. I'm totally slackin on the water consumption today.

Lunch: grilled cheese on wheat with a cup of healthy chicken noodle soup.

Dinner: Small helping of flank steak, parsely red potatoes, and a huge helping of asparagus. (little bit of butter)

Exercise: Today we tried something new. Tennis. Yes, tennis. I have never really played tennis before. I think I may have tried it once in high school. Keith and I are both new at this. We bought a couple inexpensive rackets and a few balls and headed out for the park. We really don't have much control over the ball, but we tried. We actually played for an hour and a half, which is twice as long as I would usually walk. I get bored with walking. We just enjoyed one another and kept it low-key. We did a lot of bouncing back and forth, but not competitively. We liked it. I think we will go again.

Random thoughts: It would be cool to have a gadget on the refridgerator that every time you opened the door it made pig sounds. LOL (where do I dream up such things?)

I've Been Doing It All Wrong

I found out that I have been doing it all wrong... Now that I have been shown the right way to weigh myself, I am much more impressed with the results!

It's All About Choices

Morning Pig Kickers. My senses are aware of my duty to make appropriate choices this morning. Remember those cartoons with the devil and angel on the character's shoulder encouraging them to make a choice one way or another? I am reminded of this as I make my choices for breakfast.

Keith would have appreciated a hearty breakfast this morning... eggs, toast, bacon, pancakes, etc. All of that is WAY out of my league. It's tough to find a happy medium when he is trying to gain weight and I am trying to lose it! My first reach was for the frozen cinnamon waffles. I admit, I reached for them. The devil on one sholder prompted me to. He made me see right past the "KICK THE PIG" poster on the outside of the fridge! But then the angel on the other shoulder said "Read the label!" So I did. Each waffle has 5 grams of fat and 2.5 mg of cholesterol. So if I ate 2 waffles, I would have then spent probably at least a third or more of acceptable fat grams for the day. I'm thinking... lets spend them on something a little better. Who needs those darned cinnamon waffles anyway! I should have bought whole wheat waffles!

Breakfast: Cherrios with 1/2 cup of 1% milk. (way more healthy than waffles)

Coffee: One cup so far. Starbucks Serena blend with no fat cream. YUM. Another half cup followed.

Lunch: A huge bowl of green peas with a scoop of left-over mac n' cheese and a 1/2 cup of garbanzo beans. YES - I know it sounds odd, but it was good!

Exercise: Planning to walk at the park today. I'm a loner today. :( I hate walking alone. I was thinking of getting a dog just so I would HAVE to walk every day, but our house is cluttered enough without another pet at the moment. I may also catch a ride today. It would be so nice to do a mid-afternoon ride, but I'm not sure that my riding pal will be available for that or not? We'll see.

Kicked the pig at the park for 1.3 miles. I could have done 3x that much, but I had other places to go today so I didn't. None the less, it felt good!

Dinner:

Water: 10 oz. Dasani after walk. 16 oz. 1/2 water 1/2 cranberry juice with lunch. 16 oz. Fruit 2O at my parent's house.

To all my Pig Kicking friends.... Don't let the devil alter your choices today! Pay attention to the little pig-kicking angel on the other shoulder who will help you make the better choice!

More Of The Same

I'm such a creature of habit... maybe next week I'll have a new favorite for breakfast?

Breakfast: Raisin Bran with a 1/2 cup of 1% milk.

Snack: Hmm... thinking about a cheese stick.

Coffee: 2 cups brewing...

Lunch: Eggplant parmasan sandwich and a large glass of iced tea w/ lemon.

Exercise: Walking across campus and up an extra flight of steps this morning. I need to get out to walk, but the rain has been awful. Maybe it's time again to break out the exercise videos? We'll see. I've got to get back into some kickin exercising!

Dinner: Fish Fillet's ala Gorton's (YUK) with a side of homemade mac'n cheese and a large helping of green peas.

Water: FIVE 10 oz. bottles of Dasani

Thursday, October 19, 2006

Plugging Along

Breakfast: Raisin Bran with 1% milk and an apple

Coffee: 1 cup with cream

Snack: Cheese Stick

Lunch: Turkey and Swiss on a light bagel with Light Miracle Whip, a handful of fresh veggies with No Fat Ranch Dip, and a half of a pickled egg. 1/2 can of diet coke.

Water: Four 10 oz. bottles of Dasani

Dinner: Hoss's - 8 oz. Sirloin Steak with a few fork fulls of rice pilaf and a salad. For dessert - 3 oz. of ice cream with strawberry sauce, a spoonful of chocolate pudding, and a shortbread cookie. Yes - maybe a little overboard, but I have been trying to be good.

Exercise: Lots of back and forth across campus at work, up and down the stairs etc.

Pig Kickin Humor

Gotta love this...

Wonderful Wednesday

Morning Pig Kickers!

Breakfast: Special K with a 1/2 cup of 1% milk and a banana - yuk! This is my last banana and hopefully I won't have to eat any more for another year or so. I don't like the smell or the consistency of bananas. They are smushy and smelly. But hey - my eye quit twitching.

Coffee: None yet. Eventually I had 1 cup with powdered creamer.

Snack: Special K with 1/2 cup 2% milk (that's all we had)

Lunch: Ham and Swiss on a whole wheat bagel with tomato and Light Miracle Whip. Handful of mini carrots with No Fat Ranch dressing. The lunch came with a handful of honey whole wheat pretzels that I will save for an afternoon snack.

Exercise: I'm packing my clothes and boots to go riding tonight. I hope the weather agrees. Walking across campus and up and down the stairs a few times already.

Dinner: More Special K with 2% milk... Gotta eat quick and head out to the farm. There is work to be done and horses to be ridden! Yippie!

Does anyone know exactly how much cholesterol is acceptable for consumption for someone like me who should be watching?

I did some online research regarding Cholesterol. They say no more than 300 mg per day. That puts things in a much better perspective. Now I can read labels and have an idea of where I stand.

Coffee: 1 cup with no-fat cream. New kind: Serena Organic Blend

Breakfast: 1/2 cup of oatmeal with a sprinkle of sugar and a splash of 1% milk.

Lunch: Salad with walnuts and balsamic vinegar/olive oil and a small wheat roll. Yep - eating like a rabbit.

Water: Three 10 oz bottles plus 16 oz with lunch

Exercise: Hmm I wonder if the weather will cooperate enough to ride tonight? NOPE.

Dinner: Special K cereal with 1% milk.

Special treat: 1/2 cup of light ice cream - guilty pleasure none the less

Fresh Week - Fresh Start

Sometimes I hate Mondays, but really most of the time I like Mondays because it seems as though the week finally has a fresh start. Yes, I know the week technically begins on Sunday, but Monday is when the Activity begins.

Breakfast: banana - YUK, but I really need the potassium. My eye keeps twitching.

Coffee: I had a couple sips, but didn't so much care for it.

Water: 20 oz. with lemon (thus the heartburn, ugh, gotta switch to Dasani)

Snack: yogurt with berries (99% fat free)

Lunch: Raisin Bran with skim milk

Exercise: Walking across campus and up the stairs to the 3rd floor - several times. Tonight is my monthly Credentials Committee meeting, so I will likely be home well after dark and dinner so I won't get any walking or riding in today.

Dinner: ???

Health Update:

Exercise is getting easier all the time. The hardest part about getting out to walk is convincing my mind that it is a good idea. Most of the time I don't go because I don't like to go alone. I will say that Keith has been pretty good about going along when he is available. Sometimes I think perhaps I need to somehow embrace this as "alone time" and roll with it. I can't help it. I'm not much of a loner. Secretly I'd like to be able to run instead, but I'm stubborn on trying this. I'm afraid I'll burn out too fast. I might need better shoes... Excuses Excuses... I know...

On the same note, riding the horse is getting easier and easier for me and the horse. I'm not stiff or sore afterwards anymore. I'm getting more and more comfortable and obviously my leg muscles are working because the other night when Duke put on the brakes on a dime, I stuck to him like glue. That's a far cry from a couple months ago when he kicked out at the dog and I flipped off of him. (Landed on my feet - Yikes, could have been a disaster!)

I have been seeing my doctor each month for weight and blood pressure check. That is why my weight ticker hasn't been moving. I'll have an update to post on October 31st when I see her again. Sorry, I don't have a descent scale at home. I have been keeping track of my measurments though. It is going well, but no drastic changes... little bits at a time.

Keith informed me that my doctor called with concerns re: my cholesterol, which was 225 in 2003, 241 in 2004, and 240 in 2006. I MUST get that under control. I knew this, it's just that she is finally getting around to warning me. Ugh! I think I'll cook up the cholesterol buster cocktail and start that ASAP. I also must be very careful about my choices. SO with that little warning... I'm on the wagon... Kickin the Pig... Re-focused... Stay tuned!

Another Day Of Rest

Today, being the Sabbath, I am taking some time to rest. Actually, I rested some yesterday too, but today is to be a day of worship and rest and that is what I set out to do.

Breakfast: 1/2 cup Oatmeal with a sprinkle of sugar and splash of 1% milk. Also - a spoonful of tapioca pudding that I had made for Keith last night. YUM.

Water: Does caffiene free herbal tea count? I had 3 cups of Wild Sweet Orange iced tea with a splash of cranberry juice.

Lunch: Open-faced sloppy joe and light coleslaw.

Snack: no snack really... but a cup of regular tea with a spoonful of sugar and a splash of no-fat cream.

Exercise: Nothing strenuous today. I'm working on some laundry so I've made multiple trips up and down the stairs.

Dinner: I made a pot of taco soup, but I haven't indulged yet. This is actually rather healthy if you watch the cheese intake. There is extra lean ground beef, spices, and a ton of beans and corn. It's served with plain tortilla chips and a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese. I love this soup. I made a huge pot because it is fabulous as left-overs and Keith will be home for the next 2 days... thus he will have food to eat without having to cook.

Lonely Lazy Saturday

Morning Kig Pickers... I mean Pig Kickers! Anyone have especially exciting plans for the weekend? I have work to do this weekend. YUK. I'm also going to work on some laundry and either go ride the horses tonight OR go walking at the park. Hmmm...

Breakfast: 1/2 cup of oatmeal with a sprinkle of sugar and a splash of 1% milk.

Coffee: 1/2 cup of Starbucks Komodo Dragon with no fat cream

Snack: 2 slices of wheat toast with homemade avacado spread.

Water: Need to get some bottled water - tap isn't so good. Couple glasses of water. Couple glasses of Wild Sweet Orange iced tea.

Lunch: Muffin at Starbucks. (Shouldn't have)

Exercise: Brisk walk at the park - about a mile and a quarter - brrr..

Dinner: Boneless pork chop with carmelized onions, spoonful of whole wheat stuffing, and a spoonful of scalloped potatoes.

Friday, October 13, 2006

Frizzle Friday

Brrr... so cold today!

Breakfast: 1/2 cup of oatmeal with a sprinkle of sugar and a splash of 1% milk.

Snack: Berry yogurt.

Coffee: 1 cup with cream

Lunch: Salad with balsamic vinegar & EVOO, some walnuts, and a small side of mac n' cheese. 16 oz water.

Exercise: Walking across campus and up the stairs to the 3rd floor - 2x today.

Dinner: More leftover pizza pasta bake. Gotta lay off the pasta already!

Early Start

Today I'm getting an early start. I have a 7am meeting at work. No breakfast or coffee for me yet. There will be something healthy at the meeting, so I will wait.

The day progressed, but my ability to blog out the result dwindled throughout the day...

Lunch was a turkey & cheddar sandwich on wheat bread with light miracle whip. This came with a handful of mini-carrots and a tiny scoop of some sort of desert. I'm not sure what it was... sweet, marshmellowy, pinappleish, coconutty, fluffy stuff. YUM.

Dinner - This was not actually diet friendly, but I was careful to only allow myself a small portion... pizza pasta bake. YUM!

More water... and no exercise other than the usual trek back and forth across campus at work.

Wednesday, October 11, 2006

Rainy Wednesday

Morning - 1/2 cup of Oatmeal with a sprinkle of sugar and a splash of 1% milk

Coffee - 1 cup at home w/ no fat cream. 1 cup at work with half n' half.

Morning snack - 6 chunks of fruit (pinapple, honeydew, and cantalope) 1/2 of a chocolate brownie. (Just enough for 2 bites - YUM)

Water - none yet. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!!! I drank two 20 oz bottles of water in the afternoon.

Dinner - small serving of lasagna (left-over) with 2 small rolls.

Exercise - Many trips across campus for work, up and down stairs, and an evening of chores and riding at the farm. Cleaned stalls, groomed 2 horses, and rode for an hour.

Lunch - 1 beef taco, 10 french fries, 1 pickle spears, cup of tea with cream

Tuesday... Feeling A Little Better

Morning Pig Kickers. I took some Tylenol before bed last night and am surprised that I'm not overly stiff and miserable this morning... as I was yesterday.

Breakfast: 1/2 cup of 1% milk and 1/2 cup of oatmeal with a sprinkle of sugar.

Heading to work now. Going to drink some water on the way. I need to get water in before noon somehow. That's a huge downfall. I'm always drinking coffee until almost noon. I've gotta make a change here. If I drink water on the way to work, I won't feel bad about drinking coffee when I get there. My co-workers almost always have it ready. (such gems)

Monday, October 09, 2006

Monday Monday

Feeling a little better, but my back muscles are really sore.

Breakfast - 5 strips of bacon, a very small spoonful of eggs, 1 sausage link, 1 slice of wheat toast. Mostly all protein.

Coffee - 1 cup so far with cream and sugar. Another 1/2 cup before lunch.

Water - 10 oz. so far (yikes, I better step it up a little) 20 oz. with lunch. More water after lunch, with dinner, and before bed.

Snack - half a bagel with low-fat cream cheese.

Lunch - zucchini & onion sauted with cheese ravioli, sprinkle of parmasan cheese.

Dinner - Frescata sandwich at Wendy's - Turkey with basil pesto. Small caesar side salad.

Exercise - the usual romp from one side of work campus to the other and up and down the stairs from the 3rd floor about 4 times.

Still not feeling very jolly. I probably would have exercised at home, but my back is throbbing. I think I'll rest a while.

A Weekend Review

It doesn't matter what I ate on Saturday, because I was so sick Saturday night that I lost it all. Sunday was toast and tea pretty much all day. I did finally eat a brownie late in the evening and was quite pleased that it didn't upset my stomach. WOW - I haven't been sick like that in a long long time. I was really miserable.

Saturday

I am up up up early on this brisk October Saturday morning. Why? I'm going to work at Market this morning. Got to meet the troops at 5 AM. Yes, much later than the ol' days.

Anyway, here I am, kickin the pig at 4 something in the morning.

Brewing some coffee. Will leave with 2 cups worth in one large travel mug. I hate breakfast. Forcing myself to eat a half cup of oatmeal.

Gotta run.

Chasing The Wagon

It's FRIDAY!!!! After not having enough water yesterday and eating a handful of Milk Duds, I felt kind of like I was falling off the wagon. No worries! I'm chasing the wagon this morning... Gonna jump back on and Kick This Pig!!!

Breakfast: 1/2 cup of oatmeal with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar. No coffee yet.

Morning coffee at work: 1 cup so far. Working on the second. Gonna switch to water after this.

Exercise: So far, walked across campus and up the steps to the 3rd floor. I figure that I will be doing this again at least 2 more times today - maybe 3.

Plans for tonight: Take laundry to Mom & Dad's. Sweep out the truck. Make dinner - probably meatloaf (extra lean meat), mashed potatoes, and green beans. This is not all too pig-kickin friendly, so I will be eating like a rabbit for lunch today.

Thursday, October 05, 2006

Thirsty Thursday

I didn't start out today as well as I had planned.

Breakfast: 1 cup of Honey & Oats cereal with 1 cup of 2% milk. Usually I drink Ultra Skim, but Keith complained so we got the 2% last time.

Morning Coffee: 2 cups with low-fat cream.

Water: Hmmm not doing so well. 20 oz. with lunch + 8 oz. this afternoon. I need to step it up - BIG TIME! It's not been much of a "Thirsty Thursday" after all. Darn.

Lunch: BLT on wheat toast with light Miracle Whip and a side of green beans.

Afternoon snack: 9 milk duds. Again - what am I doing!?!?

Exercise: Walked across campus and up the steps to the 3rd floor 3x now. I plan to help Rene'e unload sawdust tonight. That should make for a good upper body workout. My legs are still recovering from last night's workout.

I better go get me another water!

Wailing the Pig on Wednesday

Morning Pig Kickers!

Breakfast at home: 1 cup of Oatmeal with a sprinkle of sugar. 1/2 cup of coffee with no-fat cream. (I will likely switch to a new favorite next week)

Morning at work: So far - 2 cups of tea with low-fat cream. (we are out of coffee - drat!)

Exercise: Walked across campus and up the stairs to the 3rd floor - 3x so far. Plus one more time after lunch. Whew!

Lunch: Whole wheat bagel with roast beef & cheddar, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and light Miracle whip. Handful of fresh veggies. 16 oz. water.

More liquids: just finished another 20 oz. Dasani water.

Dinner: Small portion of no-meat lasagna (Thanks JoBeth) and a plate full of cooked vegetables. (broccoli, cauliflour, carrots, mushrooms, etc.)

Exercise: Three 10 minute workouts consecutively - via video. MAN - My legs are like rubber! Coming down the stairs after that was freaky!

More water: Another 20 oz. Dasani

I suppose overall I did not drink enough water today. Darn. I need to order some more at work because our fridge is just full of soda - but none of us are drinking it. We have so many sodas that we could have a party and nobody would need to bring the drinks!

Tuesday's Temptations

Tuesday began with the usual bowl of oatmeal, sprinkle of sugar, and coffee with no-fat cream.

Morning coffee - 2 cups (one at home and one at work) with no-fat cream.

Lunch - NOT SO GOOD - We went out to Garfields and I had a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with a few onion rings. The sandwich had lettuce, tomato, onion, and ranch on it. Looking back, I should have just had a salad. Oh well, damage done.

Water - 2 tall glasses at lunch, working on a bottle now.

Excercise - Walked across campus and up the stairs to the third floor as usual. Did this again after lunch.

More to follow...

More water - another 20 oz. bottle. Hmm... getting low on bottled water here at work. I might have to order some.

Dinner was late - Another one of my custom-made salad concoctions. I sauted some onions, green pepper, and some left-over diced turkey ham. I made a plate of salad greens and poured my meat and vegetable mix on top. I drizzled with a little bit of blue cheese dressing. It was yummy. I know - weird... but yummy. Served with a glass of milk.

Monday's Exercise

Forty minute walk with Keith at Hampton Community Park.
We saw this cloud formation. What do you see?

God blessed us with a beautiful sunset, and thus our walk came to an end.

Monday's Madness

So yesterday didn't end up as I had planned. I fussed around on the computer doing some work. I washed the dishes like three times. I aspired to do some laundry - does that count? And I made dinner. No exercise to speak of unless you count the pitter-patter around the house. I'm rather ashamed, but do have an excuse... It was the Sabbath and we are to rest. Hmm... not actually real convincing seeing as maybe then I should have actually rested. OK - I'm guilty! I can't believe I lost my focus that fast!

So re-focused I'm on to Monday's Madness... Gonna Kick That Pig!

Monday's breakfast - oatmeal with a sprinkle of sugar

Monday's coffee - 2 large cups so far. Ok Ok - I'll switch to water when this one's done!

That's it so far. I walked across campus as usual and took the steps to the 3rd floor where my office is. Now I'm settling into my work. I'll check back in later to confess, I mean report, my progress. Yes siree I am gonna Kick The Pig today!

Mid-morning water chug - 20 oz. Dasani

Lunch - turkey and american on whole wheat bread with light Miracle Whip. Side of fresh raw carrots, celery, cauliflower, and cucumber. 3 bites of macaroni salad. Another glass of water - 16 oz.

Mid-afternoon - half cup of coffee with low-fat cream AND another 20 oz. Dasani

Evening meal - 3/4 cup of left over broccoli soup, 2 pieces of whole wheat toast with light spread of LOL Butter Spread.

Another bottole of water - 20 oz. Darn - I'm out of bottled water!

Sunday's Punt

Kickin The Pig again today. Yesterday I made myself some "Kick the Pig" signs that I hung on the refridgerator and freezer! Subtle reminders to STAY OUT!!!

I started this beautiful Lord's Day with a bowl of oatmeal, small sprinkle of sugar, and a cup of coffee. (just one today)

Home from church now. I made lunch. One of my hardest tasks in Kicking the Pig is to not kick Keith's pig. By all means - he needs it. (too skinny) He wanted tortellini for lunch. I'm thinking "Hmm... pretty much all carbs. Not a good choice for me." We had tortellini and salad. Ok - so that's what HE had. I had tortellini ON my salad. Try it - YUMMY.

So I made up a batch of tortellini and made him a nice big plate of carbs smothered with sauce with a little salad on the side. He was delighted. I made myself a plate of salad, added some red onion and the end of the pickled beets. (Thanks Rene'e) Then I sprinkled a few tortellini on top of the salad... added some EVOO/Balsamic Vinigar for dressing and enjoyed my big plate of "good" carbs. YUM I'm telling you, if you crave french fries or croutons on your salad, this is a great substitute!

Not doing so well on the water consumption so far. YIKES - it is 1:30pm and I haven't had any water yet! Good thing I'm realizing this now! I did have a glass of milk.

Exercise - Hmm... should I bolt now and walk at the park and enjoy this beautiful Sunday afternoon? Or later?

I'll check back in later to report how my day progressed.

p.s. Do I really have to post those "before" pictures? Oh my goodness - I HATE them!!!! I should be posting them on my refridgerator!!!!
